Abstrak Anemia is the largest nutritional problem encountered in the adolescent age group. According to data from SKI in 2023, the anemia cases in the age group of 15-24 years reached 15.5%. The number of anemia cases in Palu City is 137, with SMA Negeri 7 Palu reporting 26 cases among adolescent girls. Prevention of anemia can be optimized through the implementation of blood supplement tablet consumption among adolescent girls. This study aims to understand the consumption behavior of blood supplement tablets among adolescent girls in preventing anemia at SMA Negeri 7 Palu based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) theory. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, using in-depth interviews for data collection. A total of 8 informants were selected using purposive sampling techniques. The results indicate that adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 7 Palu have a high perceived severity of anemia due to its impact on daily activities, especially at school. The perceived barriers are influenced by peers but do not significantly affect blood supplement tablets consumption behavior. With high self-efficacy in consuming blood supplement tablets to prevent anemia, adolescent girls are able to overcome the barriers they face. Experiences of anemia symptoms, the benefits of blood supplement tablets, health awareness, and support from close individuals serve as cues to action that encourage blood supplement tablets consumption among adolescent girls. It is recommended that the school tighten supervision of blood supplement tablets consumption by providing control cards, forming adolescent health cadres, and peer counselors to encourage more regular blood supplement tablets consumption among adolescent girls. |
