Abstrak
Breast cancer is one of the most common diseases in women and is the second leading cause of cancer death in women after cervical cancer. One of the efforts that can be made to find out the signs and symptoms of breast cancer is by applying a breast self-examination. Patients who routinely carry out early detection and avoid risk factors that cause cancer can reduce cancer deaths. The purpose of SADARI itself is to feel and recognize the curves of the breasts, so that if there are changes such as lumps, they can be immediately identified. This study aims to determine the influence of health literacy and motivation on breast selfexamination in female students of the Faculty of Public Health, Tadulako University, this type of research is quantitative with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study is female students of the Faculty of Public Health, Public Health Study Program. The sample size was 284 with proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The analysis used was multiple linear regression with a value of a=5%. The results of this study showed that there was a significant influence between literacy (p=0.000) and motivation (p=0.000) on breast self-examination in female students of the Faculty of Public Health, Tadulako University. Partially, health literacy affects SADARI, meaning that the higher the health literacy for female students, the higher SADARI for students of the Faculty of Public Health. Furthermore, motivation affects SADARI, meaning that the higher the motivation, the higher SADARI in students of the Faculty of Public Health. It is hoped that students will increase awareness of the importance of SADARI for early detection of breast cancer.
