Abstrak Diabetes Melitus is among degenerative diseases leading to the highest cause of global mortality and morbidity. According to WHO, in 2030, there will be an increase on people with DM for at least 366 million people. Central Sulawesi is in the 10th rank of the highest case of DM with a prevalence of 2.1%. Data retrieved from the Health Department of Central Sulawesi, in 2022, the number of people with DM in Palu was 23,677 cases. Furthermore, according to the data from the Health Department of Palu, the highest prevalence of Type 2 DM was at Puskesmas Birobuli with 310 cases. Factors contributing to Type 2 DM are physical activity, unhealthy food pattern, sleep quality, and dyslipidemia. This quantitative study used a case-control study design at 95% confidence level. The sample size was determined through Slovin formula resulted 76 samples with a ratio of 1:1. Samples were also matched on sex with the total 152 samples. Sampling technique used a purposive sampling technique. Data was retrieved from the secondary data on medical record and primary data through interview using questionnaires of physical activity measurement, unhealth food pattern, and sleep quality on patients who had been clinically diagnosed for Type2 DM instead of other types of DM. Data analysis was made using Odds Ratio test. The results of the study showed that physical activity (OR=4.455 and CI=2.250-8.819), unhealthy food pattern (OR=3.145 and CI=1.616-6.120), sleep quality (OR=5.444 and CI=2.703-10.966), and dyslipidemia (OR=4.287 and CI=2.121-8.667) are determinant of Type 2 DM. It is suggested to health officers to improve health services in each posbindu and educate people about healthy lifestyle to overcome DM. |
