Abstrak Pesticides are used because they have various benefits in increasing agricultural productivity. However, if it is used in the wrong procedure, pesticides can have a negative impact on human health and the environment. The purpose of this research is to find out and to provide an overview regarding the risks of exposure to pesticides to farmers in Sapan Kua-kua Village, Buntao' District, North Toraja District. This type of research is included in the descriptive research design with a qualitative risk analysis approach using a risk matrix with a total of 80 farmers as respondents. Based on the research results, there are 7 hazards that arises during the process of using pesticides. 3 hazards fall into the high risk category, 2 hazards fall into the medium risk category and 2 hazards fall into the low risk category. Respondents who did not experience symptoms of poisoning and health complaints are 33 people (41.3%) and who experienced symptoms of poisoning and health problems are 47 people (58.7%) with symptoms of poisoning and perceived health problems, namely nausea, dizziness, headaches, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, burning sensation, excessive saliva production, and decreased appetite. The dangers that are included in the high category must be paid more attention to, such as when spraying, it is expected that farmers will pay more attention to the direction of the wind and not spraying against the wind because this habit can cause a greater risk of exposure to pesticides, then when applying pesticides, farmers are expected to use masks to avoid or to minimize pesticides being inhaled and entering the body through the respiratory tract. In addition, when washing equipment, farmers are expected to continue to use adequate PPE, especially gloves to minimize direct contact with pesticides.
