Kata Kunci: minyak atsiri daun cengkeh, ayam ras petelur jantan, konsumsi protein kasar, konsumsi energi, rasio efesiensi protein ABSTRACT Clove leaf essential oil can be used as antifungal and antioxidant in poultry. The research was conducted to determine the effect of using clove leaf essential oil in feed on protein consumption, energy consumption and protein efficiency ratio in laying hens. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments with 6 replications. The treatments used were P1 = basal feed, P2 = basal feed + tetracycline antibiotic 0.05g/kg feed, P3 = basal feed + clove leaf essential oil 6.3g/kg feed, P4 = basal feed + clove leaf essential oil 12, 6g/kg feed, and P5 = basal feed + clove leaf essential oil 18.9g/kg feed. The data obtained in the analysis of variance and the effect of treatment on the observed variables were tested with the Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) test. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the treatment had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on protein consumption, energy consumption and protein efficiency ratio. The use of clove leaf essential oil as much as 6.3g/kg can be used as additional feed in the feed of laying hens and has relatively the same results as the use of tetracycline antibiotics 0.05g/kg of feed.
