| Abstrak The aim of this study was to investigate the effectivity of dried peppermint (Mentha piperita) as phytobiotic on ammonia and water contents of laying hens’ excreta. The experiment was conducted on 80 laying hens in Mallomo 77 Farm located in Maleni Village, Banawa District, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi. Analysis of ammonia and water contents was conducted in the laboratory of Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Tadulako University. The experiment lasted for 5 W form July to August 2020. The laying hens were randomly divided into 4 different groups with 5 replicates (4 hens per replicate) arranged in a completely randomized design. Experimental diets consisted of: (1) TDM0=basal diet (control); (2) TDM1=basal diet + 1% dried peppermint (TDM); (3) TDM2 =basal diet + 2% TDM;(4) TDM3 = basal diet + 3% TDM. The observed variables was ammonia and water contents of laying hens’ excerta. Results showed that dried peppermint in all levels signifianctly reduced the ammonia content (P<0>0,05).
