Abstrak
Grass is a source of forage as the main feed for ruminants. Dwarf elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott) is one of the many alternative types of grass in the provision of forage. A follow-up study was conducted to examine the effect of nitrogen fertilization dose at the beginning of planting (one year ago) on dry matter content, crude fiber content, and ash content of mini elephant forage after repeated harvests. The research lasted for 2 months in Loru Village, Sigi Biromaru District, Sigi Regency. Determination of dry matter content, crude fiber content, and ash content was carried out at the Nutrition and Feed Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Tadulako University, Palu. A total of 20 experimental plots were previously reused and given treatment markers according to the fertilizer dosage treatment used in the previous study, namely doses of 0, 50, 100 and 150 kgN / ha which were repeated 5 times. The experiment used a randomized block design (RBD). The parameters observed include; dry matter content, crude fiber content, and ash content. Analysis of diversity (ANOVA) was applied to examine the effect of treatment on each of the measured parameters. Data analysis was continued with the least significant difference (LSD) test for parameters that had a significant effect (P <0> 0.05) on the dry matter content and crude fiber content, but on the contrary, the treatment had a significant effect (P <0.05) on the ash content. The dry matter content obtained from this study according to treatment N0, N50 N100 and N150 respectively, namely 14.48; 14.63; 13.52; and 13.65%, crude fiber content is 25.27; 24.52; 25.96; and 26.04%, and the ash content is 18.85; 18.68; 19.97; and 18.84%. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the nitrogen fertilization dose carried out at the beginning of planting mini elephant grass had no significant effect on dry matter content and crude fiber content, but on the contrary, the treatment had a significant effect on green ash content after repeated harvests. Keyword: forage, dwarf elephant grass, N fertilizer, proximate fraction.
