| Abstrak Indonesia is highly vulnerable to natural disasters, including earthquakes, due to its geographical position between major tectonic plates and within the Pacific Ring of Fire. Children constitute one of the most vulnerable groups during disasters because of their limited skills and resources to prepare themselves. The lack of earthquake preparedness knowledge among students contributes to the high number of casualties. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of earthquake education through animated videos in improving disaster preparedness knowledge among students at SDN Tanamodindi, Palu City. This research employed a pre-experimental design with a One-Group Pre-test–Post-test approach. The population consisted of all fifth- and sixth-grade students at SDN Tanamodindi (N = 102). A sample of 50 students was selected using Slovin’s formula and obtained through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a disaster preparedness knowledge questionnaire. Univariate analysis was used to describe respondent characteristics, while bivariate analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test because the data were not normally distributed. The results showed that before the intervention (pretest), most students (76%) had a low level of preparedness knowledge, and 24% had a moderate level of knowledge. After receiving education through the animated video (posttest), there was a significant improvement, with 88% of students demonstrating good knowledge and 12?monstrating moderate knowledge. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test yielded a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference in preparedness knowledge before and after the educational intervention. Thus, earthquake disaster education through animated videos is effective in improving the preparedness knowledge of students at SDN Tanamodindi, Palu City. This study recommends that schools continue to provide disaster education and conduct simulations to enhance students’ awareness and preparedness.
