Abstrak
ABSTRACT BENAZIR AINAYAH RAHMAN. Factor Related to Musculoskeletal Disorders Complaint of Dockworkers at Pantoloan Port in Central Sulawesi (under the supervision of Lusia Salmawati) Specialist of Occupational Health and Safety Public Health Study Program Tadulako University March 2020 Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) can be caused by poor implementation of ergonomics at work such as risky work postures where workers may experience injury of muscles, nerves, tendons, ligaments, joints, cartilage, or spinal discs. Data of ILO explain that 10-30% of workforce in developed countries and 50-70% of the workforce in developing countries can be exposed by heavy physical burdens or unergonomic working conditions such as lifting weights or manual handling. One of the activities at a port that has a high risk of Occupational Diseases is loading and unloading of goods carried out by the dockworkers by manual handling. Occupational Diseases may be experienced by the dockworkers is a complaint of musculoskeletal disorders. This research aims to determine the factors related to Musculoskeletal Disorders complaint of dockworkers at Pantoloan Port, Central Sulawesi. This type of research is an Analytical Survey of a Crossectional Sample Approach which taken based on accidental sampling with 218 people, including univariate and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test. The result of the research shows that there is a relationship between Work Posture (? = 0,000 OR = 0.049), Age (? = 0,000 OR = 0.051), Sports Habit (? = 0.014 OR = 0.372), and Working Period (? = 0,000 OR = 0.016) with complaints of MSDs. The efforts should be made to prevent the risks that can arise from loading and unloading activities, one of which is routine exercise and the person in charge is expected to be able to provide special training on occupational risks and work procedures related to the principles of ergonomics.
