ABSTRACT Background: A burn is a condition in which organic skin tissue is damaged by thermal exposure. According to Riskesdas (2018), the incidence of burns in 2018 was 1,701 cases. The long healing time and inappropriate treatment methods are the causes of the high mortality rate of burns. The use of Bioplacenton as a conventional burn medicine is problematic due to its relatively expensive price, limited availability, and pros and cons regarding its halalness. Moringa leaves can be an alternative in the treatment of burns because they contain secondary metabolism such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and alkaloids that can accelerate the wound healing process. The amount of natural potential possessed is also one of the advantages in the utilization of moringa leaves. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of wound dressing gel of Moringa leaf extract (Moringa oleifera L.) on collagen formation in healing burn wounds of male Wistar rats (Rattus Norvegicus). Methods: The study used a quasi-experimental design in vivo category post control group design with a quantitative approach. The study sample was 15 rats that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria divided into 5 groups, namely the positive control group (Bioplacenton), negative control group (gel base), Moringa extract treatment group 10%, 20%. And 40%. Results: Data analysis obtained from the Saphiro-Wilk test results showed a sig>0.05 value, which means that the data was normally distributed, then continued the Oneway Anova test obtained a sig>0.05 value with the results showing there was no significance value between groups so that the post hoc test did not need to be done. Conclusion: The application of Moringa leaf extract gel does not provide significant effectiveness on the formation of collagen density in healing burn wounds in experimental animals.
