| Abstrak Background: Schistosomiasis is an acute and chronic disease caused by blood parasites (Trematoda) originating from the genus Schistosoma. Schistosomiasis in Indonesia is caused by the Schistosoma japonicum, which has an intermediate host, the snail Oncomelania hupensis lindoensis. The prevalence of this disease is limited only to the region of Central Sulawesi Province, especially in the highlands of Napu. The snail Oncomelania hupensis lindoensis is found in a location known as a snail focus (focus). A focus is a humid and non-dry area located in an endemic region. The closer the distance of a residence, especially in endemic areas, makes a person more susceptible to infection. Objective: To determine the risk factors of the distance from home to the snail focus location on the incidence of Schistosomiasis in the Napu Valley. Method: A case-control study comparing case and control groups based on exposure status. The population in this study includes all residents of Alitupu Village, North Lore District, Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi. Samples were obtained using random sampling techniques taken randomly from the total population. Based on the sample size determination formula, the total sample size is 50 people. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test. Results: The relationship between the distance from home and the incidence of Schistosomiasis has a p-value of 0.024 and an odds ratio of 0.2. The relationship between occupation and the incidence of Schistosomiasis has a p-value of 0.01 and an odds ratio of 2.7. The relationship between gender and the incidence of Schistosomiasis has a p-value of 0.25 and an odds ratio of 1.9. Conclusion: Risk factors associated with the incidence of Schistosomiasis are the distance from home and occupation, while gender is not associated with the incidence of Schistosomiasis.
