Abstrak
THE EFFECT OF KNOWLEDGE EDUCATION ABOUT SCHISTOSOMA JAPONICUM ON SCHISTOSOMIASIS INFECTION PREVENTION BEHAVIOR OF STUDENTS OF WUASA PRIMARY SCHOOL, LORE UTARA DISTRICT, POSO, CENTRAL SULAWESI Annisa Aulia Nur’afni*, Vera Diana Towidjojo** * Student of Medical Faculty, Faculty of Medicine, Tadulako University **Department of parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, Tadulako University ABSTRACT Background: Schistosomiasis is a communicable disease due to infection with trematodes of Schistosoma genus. This worm is transmitted through Oncomelania hupensis Lindoensis snail. It is necessary to educate people about the importance of understanding factors associated with transmission of schistosomiasis infection. Objective: To analyze the effect of knowledge education about Schistosoma japonicum on schistosomiasis infection prevention behavior of students of Wuasa Primary School, Lore Utara District, Poso, Central Sulawesi. Methods: The type of the study was pre-experimental design with one group pre test-post test. Sampling technique was carried out using a simple random sampling technique. 53 students of class IV, V, and VI of Wuasa Primary School were enrolled as study samples. Results: Results of the study showed that, before education, 40 samples (75.5%) were in good category and the remaining 13 samples (24.5%) were in less good category, while after education, all 53 samples (100%) were in the good category. The Wilcoxon test showed a significancy of 0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant effect of knowledge education about Schistosoma japonicum on schistosomiasis infection prevention behavior of students of Wuasa Primary School, Lore Utara District, Poso, Central Sulawesi.
