THE EFFECT OF ISOTONIC INTAKE ON STUDENTS' PHYSICAL FITNESS AT MEDICAL FACULTY TADULAKO UNIVERSITY Gilbert Akbar Tanriono*., Rahma Badaruddin**., Nur Asmar Salikunna**., Muhammad Zainul Ramadhan** *The Medical student of the Faculty of Medicine, Tadulako University *Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Tadulako University ABSTRACT Background: Isotonic drinks can help replace lost fluids and electrolytes through sweating. Isotonic drinks will quickly seep into the body because of the excellent osmolarity of electrolytes to help replace body fluids. Physical fitness is the ability to be able to do physical activity. In this case, the Harvard step-up test can be used as a measure of a person's physical fitness. Objective: This study aims to identify differences in students' physical fitness scores before and after isotonic intake at the Faculty of Medicine Tadulako University. Method: The study design used was a pre-experimental with one group pre-post test without a control group design. In this case, the sample used was 38 students who met the inclusion criteria. Results: Based on the Wilcoxon test conducted, an asymp.Sig value of p<0.050 is obtained, namely p=0.000 in the fitness score data before isotonic intake (pre-test) and after isotonic intake (post-test), indicating a significant difference or increase between fitness scores before and after being given isotonic intake. Conclusion: There is a significant difference between the before and after isotonic intake on students' physical fitness at the Faculty of Medicine Tadulako University. However, in this case, the physical fitness obtained has an average level of physical fitness that is still relatively poor both before and after isotonic fluid intake.
