| Abstrak RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEVEL OF STUDENTS' KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE IN PREVENTING HIV/AIDS TRANSMISSION AT SMA NEGERI 5 PALU *Student of Medicine Faculty, Tadulako University* Tri Bagas Bimantara, Ketut Surayasa ABSTRACT Background: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that attacks the human immune system. Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is an infectious disease caused by infection with a virus called HIV. The transmission of HIV/AIDS occurs due to lack of knowledge among adolescents. The data shows that cases of HIV positive trend and AIDS in Central Sulawesi province increase year to year. Objective: Based on these data, the aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of students and their actions in preventing the transmission of HIV/AIDS. Methods: This type of analytic descriptive research applied cross sectional design. In this study there were 90 respondents from students at SMAN 5 Palu. Measuring instrument questionnaire to assess the level of knowledge, attitudes, and actions in preventing the transmission of HIV/AIDS. Results: research on students of SMAN 5 Palu regarding the level of knowledge, attitudes, and actions in preventing the transmission of HIV/AIDS, for students who lack knowledge are 36.67%, and those who have enough are 56.67%, and those who are lack of knowledge are 6.66%, while students have a negative attitude of 2.2%, and a positive attitude of 97.8%. Furthermore, the prevention of students who are lacking is 14.4% and the good one is 85.6% Conclusion: students of SMAN 5 Palu have an adequate level of knowledge, while the attitude obtained is positive, and preventive measures acquire good results in preventing the transmission of HIV/AIDS.
