Abstrak
Effectiveness of Honey Mask Use on Clinical Features of Acne Vulgaris in Preclinical Students of the Faculty of Medicine Tadulako University Dewi Fatma*, Asrawati Sofyan** Medical Student, Faculty of Medicine, Tadulako University Department of Skin and Gender Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Tadulako University Background: Acne vulgaris, a prevalent dermatological condition, predominantly affects adolescents and young adults, often manifesting during the onset of puberty. In women, acne vulgaris typically emerges between the ages of 14 and 17, while in men, it typically manifests around the age of 16. Methods: The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using honey masks on the clinical picture of acne vulgaris in preclinical students of the medical faculty of Tadulako University. The research design employed was quasi-experimental, utilizing a pre-post test design. The study population comprised active students afflicted with acne vulgaris, who were divided into three groups: a negative control group, a positive control group, and a test group. Total of 14 respondents in each group were examined at weeks 0, 2, and 4 using a skin analyzer. Results: The results demonstrated a substantial decrease in pustules (p < 0.05) from week 2 to week 4 and from week 0 to week 4. Additionally, there was a significant increase in porphyrin and moisturizer levels from week 0 to week 2 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The present findings suggest a substantial relationship between the utilization of the Honey Mask and the observed outcomes.
