Abstrak Background. Sleep is a significant activities as a basic need for humans. The prevalence of changes in sleep duration before the pandemic and during the pandemic tends to change among students, this is in accordance with the changing activity and lifestyle patterns. Before the pandemic, students had many activities and other productive activities so that the sleep duration was regular, whereas during the current pandemic it required students to reduce outside activities, this greatly affected the duration of sleep. Objective. This research intends to identify the sleeping duration changes before and during the pandemic situation of medical students at Tadulako University batch 2019. Method. This is an observational anaclitic research with cross sectional design. Population in this research were all students batch 2019 of medical faculty Tadulako University who were selected through simple random sampling using inclusion and exclusion criteria. Questioner of PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) was used to assess sleeping picture of observed students. Result. 114 students as subject in this research were 51 female (64.9%), and 93 male (35.1%). For the t test, the mean SD sleep duration before pandemic was 6.03 ± 0.95 and the mean SD sleep duration during the pandemic was 5.69 ± 1.27 resulting in a mean diff ± SD 0.33 ± 1.31 and a 95% CI (0.55-0 , 12) with a p value of 0.003. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the majority of students in the Medical Education Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Tadulako University, Batch 2019 have a change in the duration sleeping before and during the pandemic. Students need to improve their sleeping quality properly so that the activities may carried out well and also it can maximize their focus and concentration. |
