| Abstrak Background: Lecturers are professional educators and scientists with the main task of transforming, developing and disseminating knowledge through education, research, and community service. Therefore, lecturers must be able to shape student character by applying, namely the role of lecturers as information providers, teaching role models, on the job role models, learning facilitators, mentors and student assessors. Objectives: This research aims to the perception of the required role of lecturers for students of the medical faculty of Tadulako University Method: The research used quantitative method with a descriptive design. The sampling technique was probability sampling with 196 respondents as the sample. Questionnaire was also used to collect data in the research while Kruskalwallis test used to analyze the data. Findings: The results of the Kruskalwallis test showed that the role of the lecturer needed in the first year students was the role of the lecturer as an information provider. The role of lecturer needed for second year students is the role of lecturer as a teaching role model. The role of lecturers needed for third year students is the role of lecturers as on the job role models. Conclusion: There are differences in perceptions of the role of lecturers required for undergraduate students of medical faculty at the University of Tadulako.
