Abstrak Briquettes are solid fuel made from leftover organic materials that have undergone processing. The advantages of using briquettes include that they are more economical, the tools for making briquettes are simple, the raw materials are easy to obtain because they come from environmentally friendly agricultural waste, they are odorless, and they have a longer shelf life compared to ordinary charcoal. The depletion of oil fuel reserves or sources has encouraged humans to search for and develop alternative energy sources to replace oil fuel, namely renewable energy sources that can come from bio mass. A large amount of biomass comes from agricultural and forestry industrial waste, so it has the potential to be used as raw material for making alternative fuels, namely charcoal briquettes made from nyamplung fruit shells and coconut shells. The aim of this research is to determine the quality of charcoal briquettes made from rattan and coconut shell waste in various compositions using a mixture of sago flour. This research was carried out from April to June 2024 at the Animal Nutrition and Feed Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Tadulako University. The experimental design model in this research used a completely randomized design (RAL). This research used the Completely Randomized Design (RAL) method with treatment as follows: A = 100 % Coconut Shell B = 100 % Limabh rattan C = 75% Coconut Shell + 25 % Limabh rattan D = 50% Coconut Shell + 50% Limabh rattan E = 25 % Coconut Shell + 75 % Limabh rattan Each treatment uses 200 grams of charcoal powder with 50 grams of tapioca adhesive + 150 ml of water and the treatment was repeated 3 times. The parameters observed were water content, bound carbon content, volatile substance content, density and heating value. The results of the quality analysis of charcoal briquettes from various treatments are: Water content 1.35% - 9.37% Ash content 3.84% - 9.57% Bound carbon content 10.87% - 26.21% Volatile substance content 9, 5 – 16.5 ?nsity 1.64g/m3 - 2.94 gr/cm3 and Calorific Value 323.34 cal/gr – 5137.22 cal/g. Charcoal briquettes from rattan and coconut shell waste have good quality and meet SNI standards, ash content, volatile substances, bound carbon, calorific value. These briquettes have the potential to be an environmentally friendly and economical alternative fuel. |
