| Abstrak Birds are a type of wildlife that humans widely utilize. They belong to one of the five classes of vertebrate animals, are warm-blooded, reproduce by laying eggs, and have feathers.A habitat is a natural environment that provides the basic needs for living organisms to survive, reproduce, and carry out daily activities. Habitats can include forests, grasslands, oceans, swamps, deserts, and other environments that support the life of various species. Birds' habitat preferences are influenced by several factors, including the type of environment, protection from predators, climate, food availability, social interactions, and breeding sites.This research was conducted over three months, from May to August 2024, in the Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve. The objective of this study was to document the bird species in the Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve and their habitat preferences.The research was carried out in three habitat types: riverine riparian, secondary forest, and grassland, using the point count method. Ten points were assigned for each habitat type, with a distance of 100 meters between each point. Data analysis was performed using the Jacobs Index.The results of this study indicate that birds in the Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve prefer the grassland habitat. This preference is due to the low and open vegetation in the reserve's grasslands, which makes it easier for birds to forage and nest. Additionally, the open grasslands provide good visibility, allowing birds to detect and avoid,potential threats. |
