Abstrak Bamboo is widely used for the construction of residential houses and also a material for building bridges. As an alternative material for construction, this bamboo material is very interesting to research. The purpose of this research is to find out the physical and mechanical properties of bamboo parring based on the axial direction. Testing of physical properties using Indian standards (IS 6874,2008) and testing of mechanical properties using British standards (BS 373:1957). The results showed that the moisture content of bamboo was influenced by its axial direction (bottom, middle, top) while bamboo density was not affected by its axial direction (bottom, middle, top). The MOE and MOR of bamboo are not affected by their axial direction (bottom, middle, top) and the presence of skin (with bark and without bark). The physical properties of bamboo obtained are an average fresh water content of 86,71%; the average dry water content of the air is 15,81%; The average density is 0,76 g/cm3. The mechanical properties of bamboo obtained are the average MOE with a bark of 529450,17 kg/cm2; average without bark MOE 524772,72 kg/cm2; the average MOR with bark is 2364,97 kg/cm2; the average without bark MOR is 2292,40 kg/cm2. |
