Abstrak One of the non-timber products is honey. Honey is a sweet liquid that comes from nectar produced by bees and has many benefits, especially for health. Honey contains active substances that are not released into antibacterial substances. Antibacterial is a substance that kill or suppresses the production of bacteria. Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria are disease-causing bacteria that often attack the human body. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of honey (Apis cerana) against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. The research method used is the well diffusion method. Honey (Apis cerana) will be tested for its antibacterial activity using Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria with concentration solutions of 25%, 50%, and 100%. The results of the study showed that honey solution (Apis cerana) has the ability to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with a very strong inhibition category with an inhibition zone 20 mm. Meanwhile, the inhibitory ability against Escherichia coli bacteria is categorized as strong (25% concentration) with an inhibition zone of 10- 20 mm and very strong (50% and 100% concentration) with an inhibition zone of 20 mm. Of the three concentrations, the strongest in inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli bacteria is the 100% concentrations. The shows that the higher the concentration of honey solution, the greater the inhibitory power that will be produced. When compared with the positive control (Chloramphenicol 2%) the 100% concentration extract remained stronger Keywords: Apis cerana, Antibacterial, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli |
