Abstrak
Nantu wood (Palaqium obovatum Engl) is a type of wood that is easily found in various regions, especially in Sulawesi, Kalimantan, and also parts of Java. Nantu wood is wood with a level of wood resistance that is included in class II and III, but for durability, nantu wood is included in durable class III and IV. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of natural durability of nantu wood against attacks by marine borers at different sea depths. The benefit of this research is that it can provide information about the natural durability of nantu wood for its proper use and can be a reference for academics as material for studies on the natural durability of nantu wood. The research method used was factorial complete randomized design analysis, with different factors A (variation of axial direction) and factor B (variation of sea depth). The marine borers attack test samples used were 30 cm x 5 cm x 2.5 cm with a total of 45 test samples placed at 3 sea depths (5 cm, 10 cm and 42 cm). The natural durability of Nantu wood based on the level of intensity of attack by marine borers is classified as durable class III. From the identification of pallets and boreholes, it can be seen that most of the marine borers that attack nantu wood come from the Teredinidae family, some of the Pholadidae family.
