Abstrak Abstract Birds are wildlife that are commonly used as some of the most popular pets compared to other animals in Palu City. Birds are in high demand as pets because of the beauty of their feather color and sound. Various reasons behind people keeping and trading birds, the rise of songbird competitions and contests in Palu City, resulting in an increasing demand for songbirds brings social impacts that have their own unique value for songbird lovers and economic impacts as community income in various areas in Palu City. This research was conducted in Palu City for 3 months from April to June 2023, there were 3 bird shops scattered namely in Kawatuna, Jalur Dua, and Dewi Sartika in several bird sales places, the results of the research of bird shops in Palu City are the number of individuals 153 of 16 bird species with an average total price of Rp. 11,900,000 most of these bird species are natural catches outside the Palu City area. Bird species traded in Palu City are quite diverse, with a total of 16 species. The most commonly traded bird species are Tekukur and Perkutut, followed by Love Bird and Canary. The value of birds utilized in the three research sites was 238,300,000 Rupiah per year. Love Bird was the bird species with the highest utilization value, followed by Canary and Cendet. The species similarity index between Ngatabaru habitat and bird traders in Palu City was 5%. 16 bird species traded in Palu City are not protected. |
