Abstrak Nantu wood with the Latin name (Palaquium Obavatum Griff. Engl) is one of the potential woods in the Lombonga Village area, Balaesang District, Donggala Regency. Central Sulawesi. The aim of this research is to determine the basic properties of this wood which are not widely known, especially the basic anatomical properties which are not yet known, therefore this research aims to determine the characteristics of the anatomical structure of nantu wood for optimal use of the wood. This research was carried out in March - September 2023 at the Biology and Wood Preservation Laboratory, Faculty of Forestry, Mulawarman University. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, namely data obtained from macroscopic and microscopic observations which are presented in the form of images and descriptions. The macroscopic characteristics observed include color & pattern, texture, tactile impression, fiber direction, odor and gloss. Microscopic characteristics of Nantu wood; diffuse pore type, where the pore diameter is more or less the same, the vessels are arranged diagonally and/or in a radial pattern with solitary pores and multiple pores of 2 and 3 cells which are almost entirely solitary, the apotracheal parenchyma forms diffuse aggregates scattered between the fingers and toes. uniseriate fingers and 1-2 serial spokes. The anatomical structure of Nantu wood varies in the vertical and radial directions of the trunk. The pore diameter increases from the base, The middle and ends, as well as near the heart and near the skin, tend to increase |
