| Abstrak Mangrove ecosystems play a crucial role in blue carbon stage, coastal protection, and biodiversity support, however, anthropogenic pressure and land conversion have led to significant degradation in their extent and quality. Estimating aboveground biomass (AGB) is therefore essential as a foundation for sustainable management. This study employed Sentinel-2A satellite imagery to provide spatial information on biomass potential efficiently and across a wide area, supporting conservation strategies and climate change mitigation in Sausu Tambu Villave, Sausu District, Parigi Moutong Regency. Field biomass data were obtained using species-specific allometric equation and integrated with the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) derived from Sentiinel-2A imagery. Result revealed a strong positive relationship between NDVI values and biomass, with a power regression model producing a coefficient of determination (R2) of 92%, indicating high accuracy in representing the relationship between NDVI and mangrove biomass. The study further showed that the aboveground biomass potential of mangroves in Sausu Tambu reached 410,93 tons/ha, with an avegare 157,92 tons/ha, while the biomass distribution map indicated that denser mangrove stands had higher biomass values compared to more open areas. These findings demonstrate that NDVI derived from Sentinel-2A imagery can be effectively applied to estimate mangrove biomass potential and serve as a critical reference for sustainable coastal ecosystem management and conservation efforts. |
