Abstrak White jabon (Anthocephalus cadamba) is a plant native to Indonesia that has many properties and is used by the community as a traditional medicine. Central Sulawesi is one of the regions that is famous for its natural resource potential including producers of medicinal plants, such as Jabon plants. In Central Sulawesi, white jabon can be found in Kapiroe Village, Palolo District, Sigi Regency. The purpose of this study was to identify the content of secondary metabolites and antioxidant activity of White Jabon leaves (Anthocephalus cadamba) both old and young leaves. This research was carried out from May to July 2022 at the Research Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The method used in this study is a descriptive method by looking at changes in the color and shape of liquids in alkaloid compounds, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, carotenoids, terpenoids and streoids. Phytochemic analysis was performed on ethanol extracts of old leaves of white jabon and young leaves of white Jabon. The DPPH method is used to determine antioxidant activity. The results of the phytochemical test analysis obtained on the type of young leaves and old leaves of white Jabon (Anthocephalus cadamba) using a 96% positive ethanol solvent containing flavonoids, tannins and terpenoids. The results of the antioxidant activity test of white jabon leaf extract using the DPPH method on old leaves have an IC50 of 85,223 ppm is strong and young leaves with an IC50 value of 71,920 ppm are strong. |
