Abstrak
Jengkol (Pithecellobium lobatum) is one of the MultiPurpose Tree Species plants belonging to the family Fabaceae. Jengkol seeds include recalcitrant seeds that couldt withstand storage at low temperatures and humidity. Therefore, a technique / method needed to store and the time and storage media of jengkol seeds so that their viability is maintained. Some efforts that can be made to increase the shelf life of recalcitrant seeds are by paying attention to the medium. This study aims to determine the effect of storage duration and storage media on the shelf life of jengkol seeds, storage media that is effective in extending the shelf life of jengkol seeds, and the interaction between the length of storage time and storage media on jengkol seeds. This study was compiled factorially (3x3). Where to use quantitative descriptive research methods. Factor I is the length of storage (W) consisting of W1 (2-week storage), W2 (4-week storage), and W3 (6-week storage). Factor II of the storage medium (M) consists of M0 (without storage), M1 (sawdust storage medium), and M2 (rice husk charcoal). Each combination of treatments is repeated 3 times. Each experimental unit used consists of 10 seeds. The results of the study showed that Without a storage medium, the viability of jengkol seeds can last up to 4 weeks. The use of sawdust is not able to maintain the viability of jengkol seeds. Husk charcoal is the best storage medium for jengkol seeds because it is able to maintain the viability of jengkol seeds for 4 weeks
