Abstrak
Abstract Mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq) is widely planted as a shade tree due to its heat tolerance and adaptability to various soil conditions, thus remaining a feature of roadsides and providing shade in several regions. This tree was introduced to Java during the Dutch colonial era. This research was conducted from February to May 2025 in an arboretum using a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with a factorial pattern consisting of one factor: Soil (Control), Compost 200g, Compost 300g, and Compost 400g, resulting in a total of 32 experimental units. Parameters observed were seedling height, seedling diameter, number of leaves, and seedling stability. After three months (12 weeks), the research revealed that the application of Trembesi leaf compost at various doses had different effects on the growth of mahogany seedlings. The increase in height showed a highly significant effect, while the increase in diameter, number of leaves, and stability did not show a significant effect statistically. Overall, it can be concluded that Trembesi leaf compost did not significantly benefit the growth of mahogany seedlings within the 12-week period. In fact, the application of this compost tended to reduce height growth and did not improve other parameters like diameter, number of leaves, or stability.
