Abstrak Abstract Gmelina arborea Roxb seed takes a long time to germinate. This is caused by the hard seed coat. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out scarification or pre-treatment techniques to accelerate germination of uniform seeds and germination media. This research was conducted from September to October 2022 at BPDAS Palu–Poso Permanent Nursery, Palu. This study used a completely randomized design with factorial patterns consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is the temperature of the seed immersion, which consists of S0 = seeds that were not treated, S1 = seeds soaked in water with an initial temperature of 75oC for 24 hours, S2 = seeds soaked in water with an initial temperature of 50oC for 24 hours and S3 = seeds soaked in water with an initial temperature 25O C for 24 hours and the second factor was the germination media which consisted of M0 = Soil, M1 = Soil + Rice Husk (2:1) and M2 = Soil + Sand (2:1). There were 12 treatment combinations and the treatment was repeated 3 times and each replication consisted of 10 seeds, so that the seeds needed as much as 360 seeds. The results showed that the best immersion temperature was water with an initial temperature of 75oC and the best germination media was soil+sand (2:1). The interaction between temperature and germination media had no significant effect on germination percentage, germination rate, root length and wet weight of seeds Gmelina arborea Roxb.
