Abstrak FADEL MUHAMMAD KASO – L 131 17 127. Daily Activities of Adult Male and Adult Female Timor Deer (Cervus timorensis) in the Malei Village Captivity, Poso Regency. Supervised by Abdul Rosyid and Moh Ihsan Indonesia is one of the countries with high biodiversity in the world. Therefore, this wealth in the form of biodiversity needs to be protected and preserved. This aims to prevent a decline in population numbers which could result in extinction. Deer have unique and varied ways of responding to their environment, which is called behavior. Behavioral studies have a very important role in the process of managing animals, both for cultivation and for their preservation in nature. One way is to conduct research on deer behavior in the Malei Village enclosure, Lage District, Poso Regency. So that we can understand the daily behavior of deer in captivity. This research was carried out for 1 month from April 2023 to May 2023. One day of data collection was divided into 3 periods starting in the morning (07.00-08.00), afternoon (12.00-13.00) and afternoon (16.00-17.00) . This research uses an observation method where data is collected by directly observing the research material, data collection is aimed at adult male and female individuals who have been habituated, this research uses a focal animal sampling technique, namely observing certain behavior or focus individuals that are first seen in one Each treatment group was repeated 10 times and the time spent on each activity was recorded during 15 minute intervals, in order to obtain the duration of the behavior that appeared during the observation. The results of this research show that for 10 days at the Malei Village Deer Farm, Poso Regency, it was discovered that the most dominant daily activity of adult male and adult female Timor deer was moving with a total frequency of 188 times (45.09% of total activity), followed by eating 126 times (30.21%), social activities 64 times (15.35%) and resting activities 39 times (9.35%). Even though moving activities are carried out most often, the activity with the longest duration is rest, namely 2004 minutes (14 hours). Moving activity is generally carried out in the afternoon when looking for food, followed by eating activity which also increases in the afternoon. The dominant rest activities are carried out in the morning. Compared to females, male Timor deer carry out more moving activities and are more often involved in social activities related to competition for food and dominance, while female deer carry out more feeding and resting activities. Overall, the daily activities of adult male and female Timor deer do not differ much, what differs is the proportion of time spent on each activity. |
