Abstrak
Erosion is the process of moving soil from a higher place to a lower place due to the force of water, wind, or gravitational forces. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of vegetation density, surface runoff, eroded soil mass, and the effect of vegetation density on the rate of soil erosion in the Wera watershed area. Conducted for 3 months, from January to March 2021 in the Wera River Basin, the data collection techniques used in this study were field orientation, making Erosion Measure Plots (PUE), collecting slope data, vegetation density data, and runoff data. surface, eroded soil, and rainfall data. The parameter observed in this study was the rate of soil erosion at different vegetation density percentages. The results of this study indicate that the vegetation density in the Wera Sub-watershed with an area of 341.81 Ha (89%) belongs to the high density class. Meanwhile, 7.38 Ha (11%) belongs to the medium vegetation density class. Moderate vegetation density indicates an increase in the mass of eroded soil that is greater than that of high vegetation density. Where the eroded soil mass that occurs is the moderate vegetation density of 0.60 tonnes / ha / year and at high vegetation density of 0.24 tonnes / ha / year. The denser the vegetation canopy, the more it can block the blow of rainwater to the soil surface. So it can be considered that there is a process of interception of rainwater by vegetation which can reduce the rate of erosion.
