| Abstrak Forests as national development capital have real benefits for the life and livelihood of the Indonesian people, both ecological, social, cultural and economic benefits in a balanced and dynamic manner. Encroachment of forest areas is now a common thing that we encounter in areas directly adjacent to forest areas. Considering that the land for agricultural cultivation and plantations is getting narrower, so there is no other way, the pressure on forest areas is getting higher. The current condition of the Lariang KPHL protected forest area has experienced forest and land degradation due to forest area encroachment activities. Forest encroachment is still happening today, and this activity is carried out by people who live around the forest area and outside the forest area. By using Landsat 8 imagery which is commonly used to find out and see the development of land vegetation, land cover, lithology types, studies on aerosols, and disaster studies, it is good to be used in this research. This research method uses inferential research methods. Where this method is able to analyze samples taken from the population to draw conclusions, then group images digitally such as composite bands. Based on the results of data analysis and calculations that have been carried out, it can be concluded that there are three criteria for the level of forest encroachment in KPH Lariang, Pasangkayu Regency, West Sulawesi Province, namely the criteria for a high level of encroachment which has an area of ??105.4 Ha or 0.3%, the criteria for the level of encroachment Medium has an area of ??2,011.8 Ha or 6.2%, and the criteria for low encroachment rate with an area of ??30,397.8 Ha or 93.5% of the total protected forest area of ??KPH Lariang, which is 34,512 Ha. |
