Abstrak
Forest ecosystems are natural resources that are useful for storing carbon (C) for the survival of living things. This research is focused on estimating the potential of stored carbon using an estimation approach through the use of remote sensing. The purpose of this study was to determine how much carbon content is using Landsat imagery of 8 stands on Pinus (Pinus merkusii Jungh et de Vriese) in the Limited Production Forest Area of ??Uelincu Village, Poso Regency. This research was carried out for 3 months, starting from March to May 2020. The planned research location is in the UPT management area. Forest Management Unit (FMU) Sintuwu Maroso in Uelincu Village, North Pamona District, Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi. The map of the distribution of carbon storage is obtained through the calculation of the NDVI value in the image, while the estimation of carbon storage is calculated using allometric equations. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the biomass value in the rare density class is 401.08 tons/ha, medium density is 2,905.77 tons/ha, and the density is 20,242.64 tons/ha. Meanwhile, the total carbon in the rare density class is 200.54 tons/ha, the medium density is 1,452.88 tons/ha and the density is 10,121.32 tons/ha. And the results of the regression equation, obtained Y = -1937,359 + 5955,313X1 with an R Square value of 0.535 which means the vegetation index is able to provide information of 53.5%.
