Abstrak Vegetation is a continuous living part of the plants that occupy an ecosystem. Various types of forests, gardens, grasslands and tundra are examples of vegetation. Vegetation analysis is a way of studying the composition of species composition and the structural form of vegetation or plant communities. Vegetation analysis in forest areas is intended to determine the vegetation structure of an area, species composition and distribution pattern. Vegetation analysis is generally carried out in forest areas, both in protected forests and in conservation forests. Based on this background, it can be formulated how the density of vegetation in the land cover class in the Bale Village Protected Forest Area, Tanantovea District, Donggala Regency in 2022 using Landsat 8 imagery. This study aims to determine vegetation density data in the 2022 land cover class in the Bale Village Protected Forest area Tanantovea District, Donggala Regency. This research was conducted from January to April 2023 which is located in the Protected Forest area of Bale Village, Tanantovea District, Donggala Regency. Based on the results of research on the analysis of vegetation density in land cover classes using Landsat 8 imagery in the Protected Forest Area of Bale Village, Tanantovea District, Donggala Regency using the NDVI (Normalized Diference Vegetation) method in the Protected Forest Area of Bale Village, it can be concluded that: protected forest area has an area of 5499.261 ha where land cover dominates the protected forest area, namely forest with an area of 3897.980 ha (93.75%), shrubs 1501.501 ha (85.71%) and the smallest is open land cover with an area of 99.31 ha (82.35%).
