| Abstrak The Mount Sojol Nature Reserve area, especially in Siboang Village, is a community settlement located on the edge of the nature reserve area. The community settlement area first formed before it was designated as the Mount Sojol Nature Reserve area, Besides that the people who live in the Mount Sojol Nature Reserve area have different levels of education and knowledge, So that research on local people's perceptions of the management of the Mount Sojol Nature Reserve is important to be carried out. This research was conducted using descriptive methods to describe a number of variables relating to the problem and the unit under study through the steps of primary and secondary data collection. The level of education that is classified as low greatly influences community understanding, the results of interviews with respondents indicate that the majority of respondents (64%) only have a maximum level of primary school education, Table 7 shows that the people of Siboang Village already have a good perception of the forest, But they have not fully realized that the forest is important for life and must be preserved and there are several factors that influence the level of community understanding and perception of the forest and its functions, namely: education and age of the community.
