Abstrak
Diarrhea is a condition in which the body loses some of its fluids which is characterized by a change in the form of feces with excessive bowel movements that are liquid in consistency (more than three times a day). One of the plants that can be used as an anti-diarrheal is hantap leaf (Sterculia coccinea Jack.) which is known to contain tannin compounds which can be efficacious as anti-diarrheals. This study aims to determine the antidiarrheal activity and the optimal dose of hantap leaf extract as an antidiarrheal. This research is an experimental study using male mice which are divided into six treatment groups. Group 1 is the normal group given 0.5% NaCMC, group 2 is the negative group 0.5% NaCMC, group 3 is the positive control group given loperamide 2.08 mg/kg BW, groups 4, 5 and 6 given hantap leaf extract each at a dose of 25, 50, and 100 mg/kg BW. The method used is the intestinal transit method with oleum ricini induction and norit markers. Based on the transit method, the ratio of the distance traveled by the marker (norit) to the entire length of the mice intestine was calculated. Data were analyzed statistically using one way ANOVA analysis followed by Duncan's post test. The results showed that hantap leaf extract had antidiarrheal activity and the optimal dose was 25 mg/kg BW
