| Abstrak Poverty is a crucial issue that requires special attention from all countries and must be addressed promptly. The overall condition of poverty is characterized by convey economic vulnerability, isolation, powerlessness, and inability to aspirations. This study aims to identify factors that influence poverty in Sulawesi Island and determine the effectiveness of the Human Development Index in mediating this issue. The implementation requires the use of the Causal Step method. The Causal Step method involves mediation or intervening variables, which serve as an intermediary between the independent and dependent variables, meaning that the independent variable does not directly influence the changes or emergence of the dependent variable. The results of this study, using regression analysis with the mediation variable through the Causal Step method. Show that improvements in the quality of human development effectively reduce poverty. In contrast, the variables of education and Gross Regional Domestic Product do not significantly influence poverty in Sulawesi Island. The conclusion of this study indicates that the Gross Regional Domestic Product does not directly impact the poverty level in the analyzed model, while the Human Development Index significantly contributes to reducing the poverty rate in Sulawesi Island. |
