ABSTRACT Research has been carried out related to the analysis of tidal currents and ocean waves in the waters of the Mato Fish Landing Base, Banggai Laut Regency. This study aims to pinpoint the technical location of ocean waves and currents at PPI Mato. PPI Mato is a fish landing base with great potential to be developed in Central Sulawesi Province, especially Banggai Laut Regency. However, the development process requires hydrooceanographic analysis so that its utilization is optimal. The purpose of this study was to analyze the tidal wave parameters, modeling significant wave heights and strong currents at PPI Mato. Tidal analysis using the admiralty method by analyzing tidal data at the study site. Current and wave modeling uses the finite difference volume approximation method. The results showed that the tides in the waters of the port of Mato were single daily tides with a formal number of 5.72. The wave height of the model shows that the scenario of waves from the extreme Banda Sea with a height of 4 meters is damped at the boath mooring point until the wave height reaches 0.34 meters to 0.45 meters. The wave height bevore reclamation at the time of the breaking wave position gradually rose to a constant at 0.8 meters and subsided to 0.42 meters with wave energy attenuation between the to stations reaching 48%. When compared with wave height in the scenario, there is a reduction in wave energy of arround 90%. The current velocity at PPI Mato at spring tide is about 0.001 m/s with the dominant pattern moving from the north to the southwest coast. Meanwhile, at low tide, the current velocity is around 0.0028 m/s with the dominant current pattern moving from the coast towards the open sea. Thus, based on a hydrooceanographic study, the development of PPI Mato is very feasible to be carried out according to the results of studies from wave simulations which illustrate that the reclamation of PPI Mato is classified as safe from wave attack because it is in the shadow area of the surrounding islands.
