Abstrak
ABSTRACT Cacao (Theobroma cacao, L.) or what is usually called cocoa is a plantation plant that can grow on dry land. Cocoa is also one of the leading national commodities which has an important role for economic growth in Indonesia, Central Sulawesi is the second largest cocoa supplier or producer after South Sulawesi and then followed by West Sulawesi. Cocoa production alone in Central Sulawesi is 158,278 tons/year with a plantation area of 289,274 ha, which is the biggest source of income for farmers. However, this shows that the productivity of cocoa plants only reaches 547.2 kg/ha/year, which is much lower than the average yield potential of cocoa plants of 1.5 tons/ha/year. One of the triggers for the low productivity of cocoa plants in Central Sulawesi is due to the large number of cocoa plants growing which are susceptible to pests and diseases, as well as the erratic weather so that the process of stopping the cocoa pods is not optimal, which can lead to poor quality of cocoa pods, such as the fruit seeds produced are small, flat and the fruit seeds are cracked, germinate and so on, based on these problems and in order to improve the quality of cocoa pods, it is necessary to have a system that can help the public in assessing the quality of cocoa pods, one of the ways is by utilizing digital image processing. Researchers conducted a study entitled "Quality Classification of Cocoa Beans Using the Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) and Neural Network (NN) Algorithms". One way to distinguish good or bad cocoa pod quality by differentiating it based on texture features is the Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) method for texture analysis, as well as its classification using the Neural Network algorithm, texture and defects in cocoa pods. It is hoped that this will help the community in selecting and differentiating between good quality cocoa pods and poor quality cocoa pods. Keywords— NN, GLCM, Citra, Quality, Cocoa Beans
