Abstrak This study discusses the analysis of lightning protection systems, which were carried out in the pharmaceutical laboratory building of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Tadulako University, with a research system using a comparison between an installed protection system (KURN R 150 m) and calculation analysis using the rolling ball method. The need for lightning rods in pharmaceutical laboratory buildings is known by knowing several parameters obtained, namely protection area (Ae) 9,451.69 m², lightning strike density (Ng) 28,1676 strikes per km² per year, lightning protection efficiency (E) 62%, so it is included in the level IV protection level with an efficiency category between 0% - 80% so that it is included in the category of buildings that require a lightning protection system The lightning protection analysis process that has been installed is carried out using the rolling ball method, with peak current (I) 234,8920 kA, lightning strike distance (ds) 347,5876 m, protection area (A) 11,304 m², the revised air termination point is obtained with 4 air termination points located at the corners of the roof of the building, the minimum conductor wire cross-sectional area (Ao) 10.0431 mm², fortunately the grounding rod resistance system (Rp) 3.4066 with a total of 5 electrodes and a distance between electrodes of 5 m Keywords: rolling ball, efficiency, air termination, conductor wire, grounding rod. |
