ABSTRACT The grounding system is a conductive connection system that connects the system, equipment body and installation with the earth and ground so that it can protect humans from touch and non-touch electric shocks, and secure electronic equipment from the danger of abnormal voltages or currents. Therefore, the grounding system becomes an essential part of the electric power system. The grounding system has a very important role in the protection system. This study aims to determine the comparison of the resistance value of the grounding system in wet sand and dry gravel and to determine which is more efficient wet sand or dry gravel and to determine the percentage value of resistance in wet sand and dry gravel. The method used in this research is experimental. The type of electrode used is a single rod electrode with a diameter of 0.15 cm and a length of 1.4 m which is planted with a depth of 0.25; 0.5; 0.75; 1 meter from the ground and the measuring instrument used is the Earth Resistance Tester. Measurement of the value of grounding resistance was carried out six times. The result of the measurement of the grounding resistance value of wet sand is 2.258 ?, while the dry gravel soil is 13.601 ?. The highest value of grounding resistance calculated for dry gravel is 4228.357128 ? while for the calculated results for wet sand is 845.671425 ?. From the measurement results and the calculation of the grounding resistance value, it can be seen that the grounding resistance value of wet sand is more efficient than the grounding resistance value in dry gravel. Keywords: Grounding system, soil resistivity and electrodes.
