| Abstrak WAHYU RAY DWI SENTOSA (F 231 16 015), with the thesis title " Suitability Of Land Use Based On Land Capability And Disaster Hazard In The District Of Palu Selatan, Palu City ", guided by Andi Chairul Achsan, S.P., M.Sc. Land carrying capacity is the ability of an environment to support life can be defined as the ability to get results or products in an area from limited natural resources by maintaining the amount and quality the resources. Natural disasters that occur in the city of Palu cause a reduction in the availability of residential land with the disaster-prone zoning. Meanwhile, an increase in population during the last five years in South Palu District from 2014 to 2018 with a population growth rate of 6,52 %. With the increasing need for residential land in the next few years, it is necessary to see the suitability of land in the District of South Palu. Therefore, research is needed that aims to determine the ability of land and disaster vulnerability in the District of South Palu in the direction of determining the development of residential areas. This research uses descriptive quantitative method by using tools overlay analysis of the scoring map which then calculates land capability and disaster vulnerability so as to produce information on land suitability for settlements and recommendations for direction of regional development. The results showed that there were still 207,16 Ha or 61,57 % of the area that had recommendations for the development of residential areas and there were 129,32 Ha or 38,43 % of the area that was not recommended in the development of residential areas. The development of residential areas can be planned in Petobo, North Birobuli, and South Birobuli villages, while in North Tatura and South Tatura villages it is better not to develop residential areas by observing very little availability of vacant land in the area and high population density.
