Abstrak TRI WAHYUNI (F231 14 005), with the title of the Thesis "Study of Carrying Capacity for Settlement Land in Palu City, Case Study in East Palu District". Supervised by Supervisor I Ir. Muhammad Najib, M.T and Advisor II Khairinrahmat, S.T., M.T. The carrying capacity of the area for settlements can be interpreted as the ability of an area in providing residential land to accommodate a certain number of residents to be able to live properly. Natural disasters that occur in the city of Palu have an impact on the availability of residential land which is increasingly reduced by the presence of disaster-prone zoning. Meanwhile, the population in the East Palu Sub-district has increased 1.54% in the last 5 years. The use of residential land has also increased over the past 10 years, in 2009 the area of settlements was 303.89 ha and in 2018 it became 384.14 ha. Therefore there is a need for research to determine the carrying capacity of residential land to avoid overshooting of residential land use which results in a decrease in carrying capacity for residential land. This research uses descriptive quantitative method with analysis of population projections, while also using overlay analysis tools on the scoring map, then calculating the carrying capacity of the overlay results that produce maps of suitability of residential land. The results showed that the land in the East Palu Subdistrict suitable for use as residential land was 531.85 Ha, while for the area of land with classification that was not suitable as residential land was 63.21 Ha. Of the appropriate land area divided into 30% of land for green space and 70% for the development of settlements. Based on the calculation of the carrying capacity for residential land in East Palu District shows that the DDPm value is still high, which means that it is still able to accommodate residents to settle (build houses), as well as the results of projections for the next 20 years in several villages. Settlement development can be planned in Central Besusu, South Lolu and North Lolu villages. Whereas in West Besusu and East Besusu Kelurahans, development should not be carried out for residential areas, because this village is included in the classification of high density with low DDPm values in 2038.
