“PENGARUH POLIMER TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK CAMPURAN BETON ASPAL LAPIS AUS” Muh. Taufik, Arief Setiawan ABSTRAK Penggunaan kendaraan komersil dengan ban super tunggal dan peningkatan beban gandar akan berdampak buruk pada perkerasan jalan, sehingga dengan adanya teknologi bahan tambahan berupa bahan kimia maupun bahan nonkimia diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kualitas aspal yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini membahas tentang kinerja campuran beton aspal lapis aus dengan menggunakan aspal modifikasi polimer Styrene Butadine Styrene (SBS). Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui perubahan karakteristik aspal dengan bahan tambah polimer SBS dan karakteristik campuran beton aspal polimer, serta menentukan kadar polimer optimum pada campuran beton aspal lapis aus. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mencampurkan 3 variasi kadar polimer SBS yaitu kadar 2 %, 4 ?n 6 % kedalam aspal pen 60/70. Setelah aspal polimer menjadi homogen lalu dicampurkan kedalam agregat lalu diuji menggunakan metode pengujian Marshall. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dengan adanya penambahan kadar polimer SBS yang semakin tinggi hingga 6 % kedalam aspal, maka akan membuat tingkat kekakuan dan kekuatan pada campuran semakin meningkat pula. Secara signifikan, penambahan polimer juga mempengaruhi nilai kepadatan, VIM, VMA, VFB, stabilitas, flow, dan MQ campuran beton aspal lapis aus. Dari penelitian ini juga diperoleh kadar polimer optimum yaitu kadar 2 % polimer SBS yang efektif dan ideal digunakan pada campuran dan juga ekonomis.Pada penelitian ini, penentuan kadar polimer optimum dilakukan dengan metode scoring terhadap masing-masing karakteristik Marshall yang diperoleh. Dimana scoring tersebut dilakukan dengan mengacu pada kriteria yang dibentuk dari setiap karakteristik Marshall dan nilai ekonomis dari sisi penggunaanya. "Effect of Polymer on CharacteristicsOf Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course Mixture " Muh.Taufik, Arief Setiawan ABSTRACT The use of commercial vehicles with super single tires and an increase in axle load will have a negative impact on road pavement, therefore the addition of technology in the form of chemicals and non-chemical materials are expected to improve the quality of the asphalt produced. This study discusses the performance of asphalt concrete – wearing course mixture using Styrene Butadine Styrene (SBS) polymer modified asphalt. The purpose of this study was to determine changes in the characteristics of asphalt with SBS polymer additives and the characteristics of polymer asphalt concrete mixtures, and determine the optimum polymer content in asphalt concrete – wearing course mixtures. This research was conducted by mixing 3 variations of SBS polymer content, namely 2%, 4% and 6% into asphalt penetration 60/70. After the polymer asphalt becomes homogeneous, it is mixed into the aggregate then tested using the Marshall test method.The results of this study indicate that with the addition of SBS polymer content that are increasingly high to 6 % into asphalt, it will make the level of stiffness and strength in the mixture also increases. Significantly, the addition of polymers also influenced the values of density, VIM, VMA, VFB, stability, flow, and MQ of asphalt concrete – wearing course mixture. The optimum polymer content is also obtained in this study namely 2% SBS polymers that are effective and ideal for use in mixtures and also economical. In this study, the determination of the optimum polymer content is carried out by using Scoring Method for each of the Marshall characteristics obtained where the scoring is done by referring to the criteria formed from each Marshall characteristic and the economic value of its uses.
