Abstrak The usage of viatop66 as an additive on Hot Rolled Sheet-Wearing Course (HRS-WC) can hopefully increase the pavement’s maximum tensile strength. Viatop66 is also expected to affect asphalt viscosity, thus increasing the pavement’s quality. The purpose of this research is to find out how asphalt viscosity value changes due to viatop66 addition affects HRS-WC maximum tensile strength. The research was conducted in Road Pavement Laboratory of Tadulako University, Palu. The testing method used in this research is semi circular bending (SCB) test. The asphalt used in HRS-WC mixture was added with varying levels of viatop66, i.e. 0,0% ; 0,1% ; 0,2% ; 0,3% ; 0,4% ; and 0,5%. While the analysis of correlation between asphalt viscosity value versus HRS-WC mixture characteristics and HRS-WC mixture tensile strength, was done using ANOVA F-test. The result of this research shows that the increment of asphalt viscosity value due to viatop66 addition can increase compaction temperature and increase maximum tensile strength of HRS-WC mixture. Increased compaction temperature along with the fibers contained in viatop66 can minimize voids in the mineral aggregate, making the mixture denser while also increasing stability and tensile strength of HRS-WC mixture. For the addition of viatop66 0% - 0.5% percentage increase in asphalt viscosity by 0.3%; 0.5%; 0.8%; 0.9%; and 1.1% with a percentage increase in the value of the tensile stress mixture of HRS-WC by 0.23%; 0.28%; 0.31%; 0.35%; and 0.43%. |
