Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) is a tropical fruit that is considered exotic and is widely known in various countries. This fruit is often dubbed the Queen of Fruits because of its attractive shape, distinctive taste, and nutritional content that is beneficial for health. Although only about 30% of the mangosteen fruit is edible, the remaining part, namely the mangosteen peel, has economic value and high potential for use, especially in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic sectors. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of shallot extract on increasing the growth of mangosteen. This research was conducted in Labuan Toposo Village, Donggala Regency and the Seed Science and Technology Laboratory of Tadulako University. The research period began in April 2024 to September 2024. This study used a randomized block design (RAK), one factor, shallot extract with 5 levels, namely Control, 40% (400 ml shallot extract + 600 ml water), 50%, 60% and 70%. Each was repeated 5 times to obtain 25 experimental units. The results of the study were analyzed using ANOVA analysis and the 0.5% BNJ test. The results showed that shallot extract can stimulate the growth of mangosteen seedlings, the administration of a 40% concentration had a significant effect on the increase in plant height of 0.55 cm, an increase in stem diameter of 0.129 mm and the number of secondary roots of 17.80 strands. |
