Putri Ramadhan (E28117110) The Effect of Companion Plant Types on Soil Physical Characteristics on People's Coffee Plantations in Siweli Village, Balaesang District, Donggala Regency (Supervised byAnthon Monde, 2024). Soil is a heterogeneous object consisting of components, namely; solid, liquid and gas, have dynamic properties and behavior. In general, soil (mineral) consists of four main components, namely mineral material, organic material, water and air, with a composition of pore space content (air and water) of approximately 50% mineral and 45% organic material, then at optimum humidity for life. The pore space of plants consists of 25% air and 25% water. The physical properties of soil are environmental elements that greatly influence the availability of water in the soil. Soil also affects nutrients. Apart from that, the physical properties of the soil also influence the soil's potential to produce optimally. This research aims to analyze the physical properties of soil on smallholder coffee plantations in Siweli Village, Balaesang District, Donggala Regency, while the analysis of soil physical properties was carried out at the Soil Science Unit Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University. Soil sampling research started from December 2021 to March 2022. Soil samples were taken from 3 different points, namely: 1. Coconut point, 2. Banana point, and 3. Papaya point. For the 3 soil sample points, 3 soil samples were taken each, so that a total of 9 soil samples were taken. The results of this research have various physical properties, namely, the texture of this soil is dominated by sandy clay, permeability here has the criteria of fast, rather fast and moderate. Bulk Density is dominated by weight criteria, Soil Porosity has poor and very poor criteria, the highest organic C is obtained in papaya companion plants, while the highest field capacity water content is obtained in Coconut companion plants.
