Abstrak Abstrak Pertumbuhan akar tanaman tidak hanya tergantung pada persediaan unsur hara yang cukup dan seimbang tetapi juga harus ditunjang oleh keadaan fisika tanah yang baik. Sifat fisika tanah berpengaruh langsung terhadapperakaran tanaman, air dan udara tanah, yang kemudian mempengaruhi aspek-aspek biologi dan kimia tanah. Kandungan bahan organik tanah dapat mempertahankan kualitas fisik tanah untuk membantu perkembangan perakaran, melalui pembentukan celah-celah yang mudah ditembus oleh akar. Akar tanaman akan menyumbangkan bahan organik dalam tanah yang berperan sebagai perekat partikel tanah, sehingga agregasi tanah menjadi baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untukmenentukan pengaruh pupuk organik kotoran burung walet terhadap sifat fisika tanah dan pertumbuhan tanaman jagung hibrida (Zea mays L.).Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama 6 bulan di Green House Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Tadulako, Pengambilan sampel tanah bertempat di Desa Lero Kecamatan Sindue, Kabupaten Donggala, Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Analisis tanah dan menentukan pertumbuhan akar dilakukan di Laboratorium Unit Ilmu Tanah, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Tadulako, Palu. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAKyang terdiri dari 6 taraf perlakuan yaitu, P0 = tanpa pelakuan (kontrol), P1 = 73 g pot, P2 = dengan 123 g pot, P3 = 173 g pot, P4 = 223 g pot, P5 = 273 g pot, setiap perlakuan diulangi sebanyak 3 kali sehingga diperoleh 18 unit percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan Pemberian pupuk organik kotoran burung walet pada perlakuan P5 dengan dosis (273 g pot) berpengaruh sangat nyata dapat memperbaiki sifat fisika tanah yaitu menurunkan bobot isi tanah dan meningkatkan porositas tanah, permeabiliatas tanah dan C-Organik dalam tanah. Pemberian pupuk organik kotoran burung walet pada perlakuan P3 dengan dosis (173 g/pot-1) berpengaruh nyata dapat memperbaiki pertumbuhan akar jagung yaitu meningkatkan tinggi tanaman dan bobot kering akar. Hasil tertinggi dari sifat fisika tanah yang terdiri dari, porositas tanah pada perlakuan P5 yaitu 47,36%, nilai bobot isi tanah tertinggi pada tanpa perlakuan (P0) yaitu, 1,39 g, nilai permeabilitas tertinggi pada perlakuan P5 yaitu 11,14 cm/jam, dan nilai tertinggi C-organik pada perlakuan P5 yaitu 8,10%. Sedangkan hasil tertinggi dari pertumbuhan akar tanaman yang terdiri dari panjang akar terdapat pada perlakuan P3 yaitu 127 cm, panjang akar total terdapat pada perlakuan P3 yaitu 53,07 m/pot, dan bobot kering akar terdapat pada perlakuan P3 yaitu 4,88 g. Abstract Plant root growth does not only depend on an adequate and balanced supply of nutrients but must also be supported by good soil physics. The physical properties of the soil directly affect plant roots, soil water and air, which then affect the biological and chemical aspects of the soil. Soil organic matter content can maintain the physical quality of the soil to help root development, through the formation of cracks that are easily penetrated by roots. Plant roots will contribute organic matter in the soil which acts as an adhesive for soil particles, so that soil aggregation becomes good. This study aims to determine the effect of swallow bird droppings organic fertilizer on soil physical properties and growth of hybrid maize (Zea mays L.). This research was carried out for 6 months at the Green House of the Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University. Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. Soil analysis and determining root growth were carried out at the Laboratory of Soil Science Unit, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University, Palu. This study used a randomized block design (RAK consisting of 6 levels of treatment, namely, P0 = no treatment (control), P1 = 73 g pot, P2 = 123 g pot, P3 = 173 g pot, P4 = 223 g pot, P5 = 273 g pot, each treatment was repeated 3 times in order to obtain 18 experimental units.The results showed that the administration of organic swallow bird droppings fertilizer in P5 treatment with a dose (273 g pot) had a very significant effect on improving soil physical properties, namely reducing soil density and increasing soil density. soil porosity, soil permeability and C-Organic in the soil.The application of organic fertilizer swallow bird droppings in the P3 treatment with a dose of (173 g/pot-1) had a significant effect on increasing the growth of maize roots by increasing plant height and root dry weight. The highest yield of Soil physical properties consisting of, soil porosity in P5 treatment is 47.36%, the highest soil density value is without treatment (P0) ie, 1.39 g, permeability value is the highest value in the P5 treatment was 11.14 cm/hour, and the highest value of organic C in the P5 treatment was 8.10%. While the highest yield of plant root growth consisting of root length was found in treatment P3 which was 127 cm, total root length was found in treatment P3 which was 53.07 m/pot, and root dry weight was found in treatment P3 which was 4.88 g. |
