Abstrak This study aims to see the absorption of metals by several plants grown at mercury tailings areas in Poboya Village. Sampling of plants took randomly in the area exposed to mercury tailings in Poboya, Palu City and at the Land Resources Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University. Analysis of plant metal content was carried out at the Laboratory of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanudin University with XRD and XRF methods. Implementation This research was conducted in September 2019 until December 2019. The research method used in this study is a survey method that describes or describes the actual nature of a location and examines the causes of certain symptoms. Plants that contain the most metal elements among 10 plants that have been analyzed quantitatively are fern plants, fern plants contain 8 metal elements including Fe (245.4 ppm), K (122.9 ppm), Ca (173.2 ppm) , Mn (6.55 ppm), Sb (55 ppm), Zn (640 ppm), Sn (73 ppm), Si (413.2 ppm). Results that exceed the limits of metal contamination in vegetables, so the vegetables are not safe for consumption. Plants that have the ability to absorb heavy metals through the roots and accumulate them in various organs, are known as hyperaccumulator plants. However, based on the small level of metal absorption in plants does not affect the nature of hyperaccumulator because the heavy metal content of plants does not exceed 1% of the dry weight.
