Abstrak
Cucumber is a vegetable commodity whose adaptation is broad enough so that many farmers are cultivated in the lowlands to the highlands. The fruit can be consumed in fresh form, mouthwashes or thirst-free, even cosmetics and can be used as medicines. The study aims to determine the growth and yield of cucumber plants to the administration of straw mulch and the difference in spacing. This research has been carried out in Tombiano village, Tojo Una-Una District, Central Sulawesi Tengah Province, for three months, starting from May to July 2019. This study used a factorial randomized block design (RCBD) with 3 replications. The first factor is mulch straw (M) consist of M0 (without rice straw), M1 (3kg) rice straw per bed, M2 (4kg) rice straw per bed, M3 (5kg) per bed and the second factor is planting distance (J) : consist of J1 (20x70 cm), J2 (30x70 cm) and J3 (40x70 cm) with a bed area of 3x1 m. from the combination of treatments used there were 12 treatments with 3 replications, then 36 unit experiments were obtained. The treatment of straw mulch significantly affected 35 HST observations, the 5% BNJ test showed that the treatment of 4 kg of rice straw mulch (M2) gave the highest yield of cucumber plants which was 7.85 cm and was not significantly different from the treatment of 5 kg of rice straw mulch (M3) ie 7.67 cm. whereas plants spacing treatment significantly affected observations of 28 and 35 HST, the 5% BNJ test showed that the most number of leaves found in spacing 20x70 cm (J1) was 20.50 strands but not significantly different from the 40x70 cm (J3) treatment which is 21.42 strands. In the administration of straw mulch and the difference in spacing there are no treatment interactions.
